About Nestique
Nestique is a set of free home design tools. Each one takes a question people ask before they buy something for their home, like "what size rug do I need?", and answers it on a to-scale drawing of their own room.
Who runs Nestique

Nestique is owned and published by Jon Dykstra, the founder and publisher of Home Stratosphere, a home design and real estate publication he launched in 2014. Jon lives in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
Before he started publishing, Jon practiced law and invested in real estate across British Columbia. He and his wife also owned an interior design firm. That gave him a close-up view of how people make design decisions, and why two people can look at the same room and want completely different things.
That question took him into personality type psychology. He earned his MBTI® certification and wrote a guide that maps each of the 16 personality types to a design style, color palette and way of using space.
Nestique is the practical side of the same idea: before you think about style, get the basics right. That means the rug that actually fits the room, the sofa that leaves room to walk, and the curtains that hang at the right height.
When he isn't publishing, Jon invests in real estate, works on his off-the-grid cabin and writes. Find him on LinkedIn.
How the tools work
Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, and there is nothing to sign up for. The design rules each tool checks are listed on its page, along with the assumptions it makes, so you can see why it gave the answer it did.
The rules come from conventions repeated across interior design guides and trade organizations. They are rules of thumb, not building codes. Use your own judgment, and check anything structural or electrical with a professional.
